Anxiety Skills & Strategies
 

Learn more about anxiety, and practice strategies for calming the uncomfortable sensations of anxiety. 

 

During this free, 3- week program, you will have the opportunity to explore a variety of long and short self-calming techniques along with behaviors that can help prevent escalation of anxiety. All techniques in this program have originated from research into anxiety reduction. 


 

This is not a self-disclosure therapy group; the purpose is developing skills and a personal plan of action.  

 

Session 1: Session 2: Session 3:
  • Overview of anxiety
  • Getting caught on the fish hook of anxiety
  • Muscle and breathing patterns that increase anxiety
  • Watching for the most anxiety- inducing phrase                                                 
  • The combinations of lifestyle factors known to escalate anxiety (and using this to increase your own buffer zone)
  • Autogenic Training for self-calming
  • The most powerful biofeedback perscription for decreasing anxiety
     
  • Impact of worry on increasing anxiety, and tips for curbing worry
  • Decreasing the muscle guarding and bracing that perpetuate or escalate anxiety
  • Techniques for intervening when an anxious episode begins
  • Drafting a personal action plan
